I Ryan Ransom (autosurgeon) would like to make it known I am nominating myself for the MOC Board for a 6th term. I would like to tell the membership a bit about myself. As many of you may know I have been handling the position of treasurer for just over 11 years first by appointment and then later through the election process.
Prior to taking on the appointment to the treasurer's position I was the SW Coordinator. Since that meeting in Dec 2011 when I volunteered for the appointed position of treasurer I have cleaned up our banking processes, overseen the transfer to Huntington bank after an aborted attempt to transfer to PNC which due to their branch specific anti OC attitude was not tenable. The switch to Huntington Bank has reduced work and increased productivity in regards to approved reimbursement and the payment of vendors and our attorneys. In addition to standard banking we also have acquired the ability to process credit cards remotely at events through a subcontractor of huntington. We were using square but their costs were increasing and the switch to chip cards and the liability transferring to us the seller made square a poor option unless we purchased their expensive chip reader. So we asked our bank if they could help and they had an option that not only worked well it allows us to put a card reader in every region with several extras in board members hands as well. All of this at a cost far lower than 2 readers from the competition. These readers of course handle swipe and dipping chip cards and thus place the liability back on the processor and off of MOC per the law. We have recently transitioned to a totally wireless version of these readers that work with any bluetooth enabled device.
Further with the technical expertise and dedication of Jason Gillman we transitioned our website processing away from Paypal to iATS which allows us to process both credit cards and direct wire transfers. This allowed us to get away from Paypal, a known anti gun entity.
Now a bit about me personally in regards to the firearms community in MI. I started OCing back in 2008 around the same time I got my first handgun and my CPL. Open Carry was a bit more hazardous in 08 and every day was a new adventure, and I'm happy to say most of that is behind us due to the hard work of MOC. I had been lurking on Opencarry.org since early 2007 and following with great interest the beginning of the formal OC movement in MI. In 2009 when Brian Jeff's and company formed MOC I was happy to have a MI organization to support and became a Charter Member. In addition to being a Charter member of MOC I am a life member of the NRA. I am an NRA Range Safety Officer and an avid collector of military pistols, rifles and a reloader. In my work life I am an ASE Master Certified and G1 Certified Automotive Technician as well as High School Automotive Instructor.
If the membership sees fit to re-elect me I look forward to continuing my work with MOC and representing my fellow members in my duties as Treasurer or in whatever position the Board sees fit to place me.

Nominated By: Dory Goldberger
Seconded By: Ryan Ransom
Dory Goldberger is a Life Member of MIchigan Open Carry Inc, a current Board Member at Large, and the Chair of the Retention Committee. Dory started shooting at the age of 6, shot competitively in the Saginaw Gun Club Jr, small bore team, from age 12 to 18 and enjoys hunting. He continues to be a responsible gun owner and has taken training to improve his shooting skills and to practice responding to a medical trauma situation.
He has been active with MOC since he joined in 2014: attending events, actively participating in monthly Board meetings, and interacting with the public in-person and through various social media platforms. Dory is an NRA RSO and has volunteered with the Legally Armed in Detroit (LAID) free ladies training event over the last 7 years.
Dory's philosophy is that education is paramount, as ignorance breeds fear. In his own community, he spends a lot of time presenting facts in plain language regarding what is lawful, as not everyone can separate what is lawful from what is prudent for any given individual. He feels that the normalization of seeing holstered handguns in public has come a long way in the last decade, however we still have a long way to go.
All volunteer organizations take work. Regardless of the election outcome, Dory intends to continue working with and supporting the organization to the best of his ability.
