Christie Bass

Nominated By: Jared Coyne

Seconded By: Dean Greenblatt

Hello!

I'm Christie Bass and I'm excited to accept the nomination to run for Michigan Open Carry's Board of Governors. I've been anxiously awaiting this election while simultaneously learning and doing everything I can to be a strong asset to the Michigan Open Carry leadership team.

I'm a wife, mother, firearms instructor, and fierce firearm rights ambassador. I fight hard, every single day, to help all human beings exercise and understand their right to be free from physical, social, and legal violence. From the classroom to social media, at events and in day-to-day life, there is rarely a waking moment that I am not actively involved in lending a hand to anyone that needs it. I live and breathe empowering people. I live and breathe maintaining and taking back what is rightfully ours. And now I have the opportunity to do it for you all as well!

I welcome any opportunity I have to answer any questions you may have. I'm not afraid to stand up for our rights and I would like nothing more than to be a person everyone feels comfortable speaking to and asking the hard questions. I want to be a strong voice for anyone with an interest in firearms.

I look forward to speaking with you and earning your vote for a position on the Board of Governors.

Stay Alert, Stay Safe.

Ryan Ransom

I Ryan Ransom (autosurgeon) would like to make it known I am nominating myself for the MOC Board for a 5th term. I would like to tell the membership a bit about myself. As many of you may know I have been handling the position of treasurer for just over 9 years first by appointment and then later through the election process.

Prior to taking on the appointment to the treasurer's position I was the SW Coordinator. Since that meeting in Dec 2011 when I volunteered for the appointed position of treasurer I have cleaned up our banking processes overseen the transfer to Huntington bank after an aborted attempt to transfer to PNC which due to their branch specific anti OC attitude was not tenable. The switch to Huntington Bank has reduced work and increased productivity in regards to approved reimbursement and the payment of vendors and our attorneys. In addition to standard banking we also have acquired the ability to process credit cards remotely at events through a subcontractor of huntington. We were using square but their costs were increasing and the switch to chip cards and the liability transferring to us the seller made square a poor option unless we purchased their expensive chip reader. So we asked our bank if they could help and they had an option that not only worked well it allows us to put a card reader in every region with several extras in board members hands as well. All of this at a cost far lower than 2 readers from the competition. These readers of course handle swipe and dipping chip cards and thus place the liability back on the processor and off of MOC per the law. We have recently transitioned to a totally wireless version of these readers that work with any bluetooth enabled device and that can be purchased for less than 40.00 each when more are needed.

Further with the technical expertise and dedication of Jason Gillman we transitioned our website processing away from Paypal to a much better option that allows us to process both credit cards and direct wire transfers. This allowed us to get away from Paypal a known anti gun entity.

Now a bit about me personally in regards to the firearms community in MI. I started OCing back in 2008 around the same time I got my first handgun and my CPL, Open Carry was a bit more hazardous in 08 and every day was a new adventure, and I'm happy to say most of that is behind us due to the hard work of MOC. I had been lurking on Opencarry.org since early 2007 and following with great interest the beginning of the formal OC movement in MI. In 2009 when Brian Jeff's and company formed MOC I was happy to have a MI organization to support and became a Charter Member. In addition to MOC I am a life member of the NRA. I am an NRA Range Safety Officer and an avid collector of military pistols, rifles and a reloader. In my work life I am an ASE Master Certified and G1 Certified Automotive Technician as well as High School Automotive Instructor.

If the membership sees fit to re-elect me I look forward to continuing my work with MOC and representing my fellow members in my duties as Treasurer or in whatever position the Board sees fit to place me.

If any members have questions feel free to email me at rransom@miopencarry.org or post in this thread!

Eric Coggin

Nominated By: Eric Coggin

Seconded By: Ryan Ransom

Fellow MOC members,

My name is Eric Coggin, and I would like to announce my candidacy for the MOC Board of Governors election 2020.

I joined MOC in January of 2016 after moving to Michigan from Florida for a new job as an airline pilot. During my time in Florida, I became a member of multiple Pro Second Amendment groups. I served in various capacities within several 2A and legislative groups and co-founded the Students for Concealed Carry chapter at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach.

I previously served on the MOC board from 2017-2019, participating in numerous events throughout the state as well as sitting on the 10 Year Anniversary Banquet Planning Committee.

Since then, I’ve played a very active role in managing and moderating our social media platforms and assisted the Board and SE Region Team as needed.

I look forward to once again serving in full capacity as a Board member in whatever position the Board and membership require.

-Eric J. Coggin
